We believe we have a responsibility to future generations to keep opera alive as an art form and dedicate ourselves to enriching Utahns throughout the entire year by doing educational programs, events and trainings for learners of every age.
Elementary school educational outreach: Lyrical Opera Theater performs "Little Red Riding Hood...children's opera" for elementary students throughout Utah.
Individual and group artists trainings: Our master teachers provide hundreds of hours of free trainings for artists of every age that are involved in our operas and concert performances. Artists are taught music theory including note-reading, rhythm, style and musical nuances, and are coached in Italian, French and German languages as well as acting and performance skills.
We provide supertitle translations, educational materials and fun-facts for everyone that attends our operas to break down the barriers and show everyone that opera is a beautiful and accessible art form. Lyrical Opera Theater also seeks new and exciting ways to go deeper into our community and encompass people of every heritage into the world of opera.
We can bring an opera educational assembly, "Little Red Riding Hood...children's opera", to your school or you can share our educational videos with your students. This program give students opportunities to develop skills in music as identified in the state core curriculum while they are being introduced to the basic elements of the art form of opera.
Our "Little Red Riding Hood...children's opera" assembly provides an introduction to opera. This assembly, presented by local Utah professional opera singers, includes a 10-minute introduction to opera followed by the opera "Little Red Riding Hood...children's opera" This delightful children's opera introduces students to the operatic voice and the music of famous operatic composers such as Rossini, Mozart, Offenbach, Verdi, Grieg and Strauss in a fun, interactive and engaging way. "Night at the Opera" is a special fieldtrip evening for Jr and Sr high students chaperoned by their teachers to attend Wednesday evening performances arranged and paid for through their school districts. This program gives students opportunities to develop skills in music as identified in the state core curriculum while they are being introduced to the basic elements of the art form of opera. Our operas feature a pre-performance educational series, "An Insider's Guide," which begins 45 minutes prior to each performance and that lasts for 15 - 20 minutes. Students will also get to see piano performances by local pianists which precede each performance starting 45 minutes prior to each performance.
